Gordano lose to strong Minchinhampton team in Semi Final
Gordano put themselves under pressure with some early inaccurate passes and Minchinhampton took advantage to go 0-5 up. Gordano then made there way up to the other end and unfortunately kicked away possession, from the scrum on the 22 Minchinhampton kicked into space, regathered and despite a great scramble defence worked there way over for a converted try. Gordano found themselves on there own 5m line and a ball came loose and the Minchinhampton player reacted quickest for the try. At 0-19 Gordano had given themselves an uphill task but reacted positively and played the better rugby in the second quarter with good breaks from Aaron Southey and Macie King followed by movement wide and an inside pass from Isaac Barr to Connor King who converted his own try to end the half 7-19. The game was more even now and from a scrum on 22, Gordano won ball but were pushed back to their own line and a strong Minchinhampton counter ruck led to a try. They followed it up with some of their best rugby and were held up near line by committed Gordano defence but spotted space right and moved the ball there to score wide to take control at 7-31. Gordano were still playing positively and a quick penalty near half way from Pete Atherton made ground and Kody Golding ran a supporting line to score on the right converted by Connor. Gordano attacking again, once more found one of their kicks being gathered by Minchinhampton who kicked to space on the left to score and finish the game 14-36.
Gordano had given 100% but were outplayed on the day by the team who were to go on and win the cup.
