The ever increasing Piranha squad welcomed Old Reds to Caswell Lane to see how far they had come since their first league game of the Season.
Within minutes the answer was obvious!!!
The game management of Leanne Ball and Izzy Day constantly put the visitors under pressure, this allied to the pace and awareness outside of Kate Abbott, Vicky Crackett, Sam Robinson, and the ball winning and direct play of Tash Bradley, Erin Farmer and Ellie Shorrock provided probably the most entertaining display that the large home crowd had witnessed all season.
The score board ticked over at regular intervals throughout with 5 tries for the mercurial Rai-Lee Pham and one a piece for Claire Maclaren, Adele Taylor and Izzy Day.
The coaches were keen to give valuable game time to all the squad and also eager to see how they would cope with some new positions. All gave 100% and showed a pride and understanding that is the new trademark of this team.
Lauren MacDonald,Meg Alderton, Ellie Jeremiah and Gill Gillings supplied impact from the bench as did Lucia Gaetani and Tracey Rollings with there always robust defence.
Thanks go to Oak International for the new change strip that made its first appearance tonight. All involved appreciate their support.
Lots put their hand up for Woman of the night, Both half backs as ever, Meg and Kate in the midfield, outstanding skipper Lucy Hope, debutant try scorer Adele Taylor. However if you score five tries and make all that watch gasp every time you get the ball you surely deserve the accolade. Rai-Lee Pham, oustanding!!!
Popular, ever improving and hard working Sam Robinson added "BRILLIANT game of rugby tonight, under the lights - cracking team and huge smiles all round, yes we won and deserved it - absolutely loved it!! Can't wait for Sundays game."
I couldnt agree more!!!
