The Piranhas large squad travelled to Weston Hornettes and never gave up despite being under lots of presure from a Hornettes side full of ability, pace and power.
The Piranhas less experienced squad have worked hard over the last two weeks on contact skills and this area of their game showed a big improvement. Whilst defensively for the most part they had more shape and organisation, tackle technique remains an area to really work on in the weeks ahead.
In attack, Gordano showed glimpses of their potential particularly in the last quarter when the ball was moved to the wider channels with purpose, pace and support. All involved can take real heart from the spirit and effort throughout. Typified by being camped on the Hornnettes line for the last 5 minutes when lesser sides would have given up.
The squad now need to focus over the next few weeks and hope for a more even contest in their next league encounter.
Whilst inexperienced the new players that have joined over the summer are showing real signs of improvement and are growing in confidence. Well done to Lucy Walker, Michelle Overbury,Carley Robson and Sam Robinson on another good display whilst gaining valuable game time.
Special mention goes to young Bristol University players Alice Holden and Izzy Day who have really added to the talent pool at "The Lane" and to man of the match Tracey Rollings who typifies the spirit of this team.
