Gordano ladies travelled south to Yeovil in bouyant mood after an improved performance last time out.
Arriving in plenty of time and warming up in the South Somerset sunshine it promised to be another good day.
However, Ivel Barbarians came out of the traps with all guns blazing and it was soon apparent that Gordano were up against a very well drilled and fit squad that played adventurous, dynamic and fast rugby.
The Piranhas to their credit defended to a man but the quality of the Ivel play eventually began to tell.
Gordano turned around 21 nil down hoping to salvage something from the second half.
Hard work up front, in particular from Shirley Emery, Hazel Kilduff and skipper Tracey Rollings around the pitch helped to create some space for half backs Esther Swanton and Leanne Ball to move the ball out to the wider areas where Kate Abbott, Millie Jelly and Vicki Tapley could use their pace. New player Sam Robinson showed some promising touches and Gill Gillings move to full back was a definite success.
Gordano were rewarded late on for never giving up with tries for Jelley and Ball.
The squad reflected on the defeat and the qulaity of the opposition play and determined that they would work hard to improve the intensity and pace of their play and their game understanding and positional awareness.
The Piranhas welcome St.Mary's Ladies to the Lane next Sunday. 3.00pm kick off.
