We played with our usual determination, but our game never really clicked in a disappointing match. I'm sorry to say we were outplayed by stronger opponents. Our running often wasn't as straight and incisive as it usually is. We were sometimes too static without any forward momentum.
But don't be too sad! You have had five games on the trot, and you deserve a well earned rest! We were also missing some key players which made our task even harder.
There were glimpses of our recent good form with some great defence, particularly in the first half. Our scum and lineout was generally strong, although in the second half we did lose a strike against the head and two of our lineouts.
We made some fearless tackles against some big and powerful opponents, particularly from Lize, Sunny, Alice, Izzy, Erin, Cerys, Coral and Lisa (with a great try saving tackle in the first half).
We also had some great running from Lisa (who sadly retired injured in the second half), the two Erins, Cerys, Sam, Lauren (who nearly scored in the first half), Alice (within sight of the posts, again in the first half), Izzy, Coral and Clare (who had a really good game when she replaced Lisa). Izzy also kicked well - well done!
Well done, Coral, who scored a consolation try near the end! It showed us what we could have done in a game that didn't truly reflect our true ability.
Here' s to the next game, when I'm sure we will do much better!

A good display by the front row and the rest of the forwards who managed to contain a powerful opposition pack.
Lineouts
Good jumping by Sam who played her heart out - well done!
Rucks
Some good work at the breakdown by Sam, Kath and Alice. But we were sometimes pushed off the ball. We need to give our lead player more support.
