With the Big Boys

Sunday 25th January saw U7’s and U8’s merging together to play Chipping Sodury. Unfortunately Chipping Sodury doesn’t have enough players to form separate side. It was therefore agreed to mix and match to play 3 very good games of rugby.

The first fielded from the U8’s Kody, Aaron, James and Jacob M, U7’s Daniel, Billy, Cameron, Simon and Sam L. A great game of running rugby with tries from Aaron, Cameron, in the dying seconds of the game Aaron scored again. Excellent tagging and great support play by both sides. Sodbury played some experienced running rugby. The final score being 20:15 with Sodbury just coming out victorious.

The second game was dominated by Gordano who fielded U8’s Ethan H, Ethan S, Jacob P, Sam C, U7’s Alex, Jack Tom K and Tom. Gordano winning 5:25, some spectacular runs from Sam, Jack and Ethan running almost the length of the pithch to score all their tries. Tom followed this with a hip dodging run from the kick off. Sam yet again ran ¾ of the length scoring his second Sodbury had fielded their 2nd team who although had great defence just could not keep up with the pace of Gordano.

The third game saw Sodbury’s first team in the first half and second team in the second half. Gordano fielded their 3rd team of the day consisting U8’s Emma, Archie, Ed, Isaac, Dylan, U7’s Harry, Caolan, Matt and Chris. End to End rugby was played with yet again some outstanding tagging and brilliant support play by both sides. Sodbury scored first but Gordano came straight back with a beautifully worked try by Ed. Unfortunately Isaac’s try was disallowed (ref was a bit tired by now!) and Sodbury proved to strong for Gordano coming out on top 20:5.

Some extremely good games considering these sides have not played together before. Well spirited games of rugby.
