First Tournament

"Team spirit at tournament " Old Bristolians 23rd Nov 08 What a fab day( again)
U7's squad
Louis Stratton, Alex Saunders, Caolan Pearce, Matty Crutchley, Dan Rees, Chris Sharman, Dan Beacham, James Harnden, Henry Hurst, Tom Kessler, Sam Lawrence, Jack Lloyd, Matthew Packham, Charlie Rice, Tom Russell, Cameron Whereat and Billy Worthy
'The squad strength of the U7's much reflected the commitment of all the parents who braved wet and cold conditions yet again. With a large squad of 17 and only seven able to play each time, team consistency was always going to be a problem, as well as keeping track of who played and when! But considering the number of different teams fielded, the whole squad played their part in an entertaining and enjoyable day of tag rugby.
1st Game vs Broadplain - DRAW
Good free flowing game, end to end stuff with the whole squad either playing or cheering on their team mates.Louis continued his great form with 2 tries in a game that saw us draw 3 tries each, thanks also to great tagging from Alex, James & Henry.
2nd Game vs Nailsea&Backwell - DRAW
Another great fast and furious game, entertaining to watch( and coach ) which saw another draw with Jack running in 2 tries, Matty scoring another and Billy W scoring his first try for the club in dazzling style with a weaving forward run dodging all the opposition ( ALL 8 OF THEM!!!!!! )
3rd Game vs Stockwood - LOSS
Very entertaining match, not least for the fact that i have never seen parents so animated and shouting support for players as they did in this game.This might have something to do with the fact that we crossed the try line 3 times without grounding the ball, the resounding chorus of "put the ball down" or "ground it" or just "Noooooo!"could be heard all the way down the Gordano touchline ( followed I might add by good humoured laughter )in a game that saw us register our 1st defeat 5 tries to 2 ( scored by Louis and Dan B).Great defending from Sam L and commiserations to Tom R who had 2 tries disallowed along with Tom.K
4th Game vs Old Bristolians - LOSS
A closely contested game with lightning quick players scoring tries fast and furious most especially Jack who ran in 3 this game with Chris S adding a 4th.Unfortunatley the host team ran in 2 late tries to finally win 6-4 despite valliant defending from Dan R
5th Game vs St Brendans - WIN
A fab game which saw the team resolute in defence to hold on under a barrage of late runs from Brendans to record their first win.This game saw Charlie R and Caolan P run in their first tries of the tournament and Dan B run in 2 tries including the winner set up by Cameron ( who was also a rock in defence ). special thanks to Mathew P who ran his socks off with 2 tons of mud on his boots.
6th Game vs Saracens - WIN
This team were so scared now we had hit form that they cried off!!!! ......Not really , due to injuries they couldn't field a team.
