Gordano 0 St Brendan’s ‘A’ 0
Some big tackles by Sam Kessler in the early stages set the standard for the rest of the Gordano team to follow, but the opposition were equally determined not to concede ground. The result was an exciting game in which the excellent defence of both teams proved to be superior to the respective attacks. Nathan Moore made a couple of try-saving cover tackles for Gordano and the match ended in an honourable draw.

Saracens took an early lead, but from then on it was Gordano who held the upper hand and after sustained pressure, Oliver Harrison went over for an equalizing try before half-time. With Matthew Anthony-Wilkinson and Huw Evans putting in good performances at hooker and scrum-half respectively, Gordano dominated the second half. Macauley Chesson finished off a fine move to put his team ahead, and Alex Bowell rounded off the scoring by sprinting the full length of the pitch for a storming try.

Dings were fielding a couple of over-age players and this gave them a distinct advantage as they swept into a 3 try lead before half-time. However, Gordano showed their mettle after the break as Jamie Skinner, Adam Chadwick and Ben Critchley fought hard for every scrap of possession. Jacob Evans, with two tries, nearly inspired a glorious fight-back but the final whistle saved the Crusaders as Gordano pressed hard for another score.

The final group game saw Gordano up against the ultimate group winners. With all their players making an appearance for at least part of the match, Gordano lacked the cohesion they had shown earlier. Although no tries were scored, Alfie Rice, Kylan Stillwood and William Cattermole all stood out for the quality of their defensive work.
