U12's Return Triumphant From North Bristol

PLAYERS – TOM INSTANCE, DRUM MCMILLAN, ALEX REYNOLDS, EDDIE TOVEY, SAM HODGE, JORDAN MITCHELL, BEN BEACHAM, SHAY FORD, JACK POPE, JOSH ONG, KIERAN AVERY, LEWIS LEAKER, LOIUS WALL, CALLUM CORCORAN, ZACH WALL

After the success of last week’s match, Gordano were in high spirits for the match against North Bristol. In a series of 2 games, the 1st game found Gordano facing a very strong North Bristol side.
Gordano took the lead with good blind side movement from Lewis Leaker from the back of the scrum allowing Jordan Mitchell to score in the corner. Sam Hodge conversion put the visitors up by 7 points. For the rest of the 1st half, Gordano then found themselves on the back foot. There was some solid scrummaging from both teams and good defensive work by Gordano. North Bristol finally broke through the defensive line and levelled the score with a converted try.
North Bristol continued to pressure Gordano and quickly scored to give the home team a 14-7 lead. Gordano retaliated immediately from the kick off and forced a line out. Good attacking play from Alex Reynolds and Callum Corcoran created an opening for Drum McMillan to level the score at 14-14.
North Bristol continued to pressure Gordano and only some excellent tackling from Gordano especially Kieran Avery and Tom Instance kept the final score at 14 a piece

Gordano dominated the 2nd game straight from the off. The Gordano forwards found an inner strength and started to control the scrum, the rucks and mauls and were always in numbers at the breakdown leaving a simple task for Drum to score his 2nd try of the day. Gordano continued improving and some first-rate passing from the backs allowed Kieron Avery to show some silky footwork to score a try and to increse Gordano’s lead to 14-0 at half time.
Gordano continued to pile on the pressure in the 2nd half and with good support play from the forwards and some inventive passing and movement from the backs set up Sam Hodge for a try number 3. This was closly followed by a trade mark blind side try by Lewis Leaker. Yet more pressure by the Gordano pack enabled Zach Wall to go over for try number 5. With minutes to go a flourishing backs move involving the whole of the line set up a try scoring opportunity for Jack Pope who did not disappoint. This was converted by Sam Hodge to put his personal tally to 19 and the final score at 42-0.
