Sunday 8th November 2009. Gordano RFC U12s 19 points, North Bristol U12s 14 points
After paying their respects with two minutes silence on Remembrance Sunday, the players from Gordano and North Bristol set about each other in a pulsating match, despite the poor weather conditions.
Gordano scored the first try after 10 minutes as Drum McMillan powered over the line and Sam Hodge added the extras. North Bristol soon equalised but Gordano gained the upper hand as their greater possession eventually resulted in Sam Hodge scoring a try and a second conversion.
The heavy, muddy pitch took its toll as the match fell into a pattern of scrums and rucks but with eight minutes left on the clock the ball was spun wide and Ben Greenslade scampered over in the corner to score the decisive try. North Bristol notched a late consolation, but Gordano held on to win decisively by 19 to 14.
The coaching team were delighted by the performances of Zach Wall, Curtis Southey, Tom Instance, Jordan Mitchell, Eddie Tovey, Callum Corcoran, Lewis Leaker, Kieran Avery, Shay Ford, Louis Wall, Ben Beacham, Harrison Knight, Josh Ong and Jack Pope.
