Gordano V Dunvant Saturday 13th April 2013 (Home)
Sharks enjoyed a veritable feast of rugby on the weekend, with the visit of the touring Dunvant from Swansea on Saturday, and a North Bristol, Sharks, Dunvant triangular on Sunday.
That the squad totals 25 members ensured that the players were not overplayed – and that all players got equal playing time.
The match on Saturday saw the running, handling and off-loading game of the Sharks pitted against the more direct, kicking game of Dunvant. The wet sticky conditions were more suited to the Dunvant approach, but undaunted the Sharks took an early lead through centre Macualey Chesson. Full-back Adam Chadwick revelled in the numerous kicks aimed in his direction to make some telling excursions into the Dunvant half. Unfortunately a succession of penalties saw Dunvant score from a 5 metre tap and go.
The second half followed a similar pattern, boots v hands – with the former appearing to pay dividends when the territory game was lost and Dunvant crashed over for an unconverted try. To their credit Sharks rallied and scored through outside centre George Briggs. An unsatisfactory draw in some ways, but an endorsement that the side is developing its attacking zest.
