An autumnal morning greeted the Sharks first away fixture of the 2014-2015 season. The 15 took to the pitch with memories of an Old Bs education in whole pitch rugby from two seasons previously.
After pressure from the home side a turn over ball played along the line gave Barr (conv Chigbo) his first try of the day. A second break out try from Ando, again converted off the woodwork by Chigbo, gave Gordano a 14 nil lead. The home side hit back with an unconverted try to take the score to 14-5. A third Gordano try (Barr conv Chigbo) was created by a sublime King pass and finished off a strong Sharks half with a 21-5 lead.
Old Bs started the second half strongly, competing for all the available ball, and repeatedly turning over possession. A strong Heaven run was the best of a series of good attacking plays by the Sharks forwards in response. The hosts sustained 10 minutes of pressure in Gordano's 22. A second wave of outstanding defensive work denied any score until a turnover by Rowland set up a solo Ando try (converted by Chigbo). This was closely followed by a two tries for the home side.
At 28-15 the final quarter was set up for a tight finish. Sustained Old Bs pressure secured a fourth try and pushed the score to 28-20. At the final whistle Sharks celebrated a well won victory crafted by strong defence and committed attack from forwards and backs.
