On a sunny spring Sunday both teams contributed to what was initially a well matched contest. A hard sloping pitch and a cross wind added to the challenges. The sides fought well and the first half featured tries from both teams. Barr scored an individual try for the visitors from his own 22 which was converted by Southey. The 19-7 score line reflected the first 30 minutes.
In the second half Avonvale became more dominant in terms of possession and Gordano's defence became challenged. The hosts scored a number of well worked tries with only one for Gordano scored by Ando from a short line out. A final score of 41-12 didn't reflect the balance of a good mornings work from all 30 players. The Gordano U14s were clapped off by their families to celebrate the last scheduled game of the season and Rachel and Matt's total of 13 years coaching of the team.
