Match report by Hooker Jack Pope

The objectives for Sharks today were to develop their fix and pass skills, and passing it out to the space. The game today showed evidence of these skills with plenty of people making breaks through the opposing defensive line due to over laps created by these skills.

Gordano were in control of the game from the first blow of the whistle and were constantly attacking inside the Hornets half. The brilliant lines our backs Lewis Leaker, Sam Ashbee, Sam Fear, Finn Murphy, Jordan Mitchell, Olly O’Hare, Harrison Williams and Ben Beacham were running meant it was not long before we pierced the defence and set Shay Ford up for the first try of the match.

The second try also got by Shay Ford was set up by the Gordano forwards such as Zach Wall, Harry Prunell, Sam Hodge, Alex Reynolds and Edd Tovey by quickly and efficiently securing the ball at the ruck allowing the backs to get the ball out wide quickly and get through the unorganised defensive line.

The Gordano front row of Jack Pope, Tom Instance, Harry Wall and Callum Corcoran put up a good fight in the scrum winning all of our ball and creating clean ball for half backs Lewis Leaker and Sam Ashbee to set Jordan Mitchell in for his first try of the match. Lewis Leaker added his first conversion.

Later in the game we once again saw the skills we wanted to improve on at the start of the game as the fantastic passing allowed the backs to play the fast flowing rugby we aim to play setting Harrison Williams and Sam Fear x2 in for their tries. The final score was 32-7 to Gordano and into the 1/4 Finals of the BJC Plate.
