Match report by Half back Lewis Leaker
After some excellent previous performances, Gordano backed it up again and showed consistency with their 31-12 win away to Burnham-on-sea under 15's.
The Sharks' objectives were too develop their shape in attack and defence, plus being more efficient in their "catch and pass" and tackle success. Todays game showed evidence of this as the atack showed plenty of width, pace and excellent passing and well executed takles of the much bigger opposition.
The first ten minutes started with Gordano under pressure as they were stuck in their own half. However, glimpses of exciting and daring attack from backs such as Louis Wall, Finn Murphy, Sam Fear, Jordan Mitchell, Harrison Williams and Shay Ford eventually paid off with Sam Fear finishing off a string of passes to get the first five points. Other backs such as Ben Beacham and Josh Ong made a good contribution to the Sharks attack when coming on from the bench.
The second try came from several phases as the Gordano pack retained the ball dynamically in the contact area. Forwards Sam Hodge, Charlie Geary, Alex Reynolds, Harry Purnell and Zach Wall showed good work ethic to keep the ball in Gordanos possession. This eventually led to a
Alex Reynolds scoring underneath the posts after running a good line. Lewis LEaker added the two points.
The Gordano front row gave Burnham on Sea pressure throughout the game in the set piece. Players such as Tom Instance, Curtis Southey, Jack Pope, Harry Wall and Callum Corcoran showed alot of strength and domincance in the scrum. This led to Louis Wall showing good pace and scoring the third try from the front row pressure. This made the half time score 19 - 0 after Lewis Leaker added another conversion.
The second half saw the Sharks put under a lot of pressure as Burnham came back with two scores making the score 19-12. However, Gordano stuck to their attacking methods and came back with two more excellent tries from Jordan Mitchell and Louis Wall from some excellent handling of the ball. Final score: 31-12 Gordano.
The man of the match award went too Alex Reynolds as he showed an outstanding work ethic, good determination and most of all an excellent clearence kick too secure the victory which was truly inspiring.
