Home Victory Delights Coach

In their first game of the season on the hollowed turf that is the 1st team pitch a full strength Sharks team took on North Bristol who had won 5 games on the bounce and were therefore full of confidence. In a tight first half opportunities were scarce despite the Gordano pack’s ferocity at the breakdown. The only score of the half coming from a well worked move allowing Alex Lawrence to outpace the opposition and score in the corner. Joe R making a good attempt at taking some heads off with a low flying conversion that went nowhere near the posts!!!

A fine rallying half time team talk from the coach worked wonders as the pack continued to totally dominate the opposition with the inevitable result being the 2nd try from a revitalised Tom Arnall, in his first game back at Flanker after recovering from a broken thumb. By this stage the result was never in doubt and a good North Bristol side were going see their unbeaten stint ended.

Tries followed from Alex Lawrence again showing a quick pair of heels. It wasn’t long before Mike Carver danced down the touch line staying of the whitewash by no more than a knifes edge before streaking away from the opposition to continue his try a game streak. Some lacks defence allowed the visitors to cross over for a consolation try before Tom Arnall rounded off a fine display with his second try of the game. Joe R had some good kicking practice managing to hit the uprights twice before finally landing a conversion. Final score 27 to 5 in Gordano’s favour. With Tom Arnall walking off with the Man of the Match accolade.

A special mention should go to Josh Collins, Dan Roberts, Norm Wills, Chris Derrick for their superb unselfish efforts

Well done to all for a great effort
