Gordano U16’s traveled to North Bristol with 6 key players missing. In a makeshift back row Steve Wills stepped in at No 8 and took the man of the match accolade.
In an unusual first 20 Gordano started well with the pack again looking to dominate the opposition despite the changes in personnel with Nathan Routledge, Steve Wills and Josh Embury all looking for work. As a result of the pressure Gordano took the lead thanks to Mike Carver, carving his way through the opposition defence to score under the posts, Joe Rowsell kicking the extras. Once again ill discipline led to the home side scoring after several penalties to bring the score back to 5 – 7. In a match that became very physical with mistakes being made on both sides it took another solo effort by Mike Carver that saw him run rings around his opposition winger to extend the lead to 5 – 14, again Joe Rowsell doing the kicking honours. However due to ill discipline and lazy defending the home side were able to counter with 2 tries of their own, the last of which turned out to be the final play of the game to take the spoils 15 – 14. Further mentioned has to go to Will Lavis, Joe Rowsell and Jack Britton for good performances.
