Pacy Sharks outrun St Mary's

Unbeaten so far in 2015, the Sharks travelled to St Mary's looking to extend their run after a couple of below par performances.

From the kick off, Sharks looked to pressurise the Saints, but in their eagerness conceded some early penalties. However, defensive pressure created an excellent turnover by Will Magramallis and needing no second invitation to exploit the space, Alex Walder opened the scoring.

For most of the rest of the first half, it was then one way traffic, with Alex, Josh Adams, Oli Povey and Noah Holmes Macadam all crossing after excellent hands and intelligent running lines created the space for everyone to enjoy.

To their eternal credit, Saints turned round at half time and looked to make a contest, enjoying the lions share of possession and territory in the second half and deserved to go over the whitewash after Sharks missed 3 tackles. Unfortunately for Saints though, when their execution failed, Sharks pounced with long range tries from Josh and Ed Moss.

Towards the end of the game, Sharks started to establish more field position and after the forwards battered away at the line, the backs had the intelligence to see that all the defence had been sucked in, so spread the ball wide for Noah to cross unopposed. Ed converted superbly from the touchline.

All in all, this was a good performance from the Sharks, who had taken the messages from the training ground onto the field of play in a positive manner. Against stronger teams however, some defensive lapses and failure to execute some opportunities would have been punished, so there is still plenty to work on.
