Sharks U16s travelled to play North Petherton for the first time in 10 seasons minus 5 or 6 regulars.
Within 2 minutes, Sharks were 5 nil down and nothing was working. However, they kept to the game plan and spread the ball wide at every opportunity and gaps in the home team's defence soon appeared to allow Shay Ford x 3, Zach Wall and Sam Hodge to run in tries with Lewis Eaves converting one for a healthy 27-5 lead at half-time.
With only one sub, and playing up the hill in the second half Gordano started to tire and mistakes crept in allowing North Petherton to cross the whitewash three times with only one try in reply by Ford, for a final score of North Petherton 20, Gordano Sharks 32.
Gordano's front row of Tom Instance, Curtis Southey and hooker Jack Pope can be particularly proud of winning three scrums against the head, and their 2nd row colleagues Callum Corcoran (man of the match) and Zach Wall tackled well and ran the ball back at their opponents at every opportunity.
Skipper Charlie Geary and Sam Hodge jackled all day long whilst Connor Fairclough and Joe Bell tackled their hearts out.
Lewis Eaves was imperious at 9, Sam Ashbee ran and passed to plan, Sam Fear was at his beligerent best in midfield, ably assisted by a back 3 of Olly O'Hare, Ben Beacham and Connor Bissell.
All in all, a good morning's work.
