Tries Galore

Gordano turn up the heat after the break to seal victory over Saracens
Wednesday, October 28, 2009, 07:00
Gordano produced a fine second-half display to ease past an under-strength Bristol Saracens side at Caswell Lane.
Saracens backs George Harding, Tom Pinder and Daniel Squires all looked dangerous with the ball in hand for the Henbury side, but attacking chances were few and far between as the Gordano pack dominated possession.
To their credit, Saracens tackled well and were fully committed but were unable to sustain their first-half effort and fell away in the second period.
Gordano boss Alan 'Chico' Southey said: "I was a bit disappointed with the effort of our forwards in the first period, but we turned it around and played some good rugby in the second half."
Gordano took the lead in the ninth minute with a try from the powerful Harry Aswin

The No 8 picked up from a five-metre scrum and drove for the line, carrying three defenders with him to score an unconverted try.
Saracens No 8 Joe Joyce replied four minutes later with a replica scrum move at the other end of the pitch to restore parity. But the home side began to take control and two further tries by scrum-half Kaine Southey and fly-half Mike Dyer who, converted both touch-downs, gave the home side a 19-5 interval lead.
Gordano, now playing into a strong breeze, kept hold of possession and decided to run the ball at every opportunity, playing a brand of open rugby that the visitors struggled to live with.
Dyer, who collected 14 points on the day, added his second try six minutes into the half to extend the lead.
Further tries followed from wing Joel Segar and props Alex Dart and Ben Clarke.
Saracens head coach Andy Havvock said: "I thought we started very well and were competitive in all areas of the game, but they were fitter than us and we need to work on our rucking technique at training.
"They (Gordano) lent us a few players to make a game of it, which I thought was very sporting of them."
