Sharks run in 9 tries in the Caswell sun

Gordano showed composure and a desire to move the ball against a spirited Imperial team. With a change In coaches and missing a few players Imps were always going to struggle against a Gordano team that is yet to lose at home this season.

From the kick off Imperial kept hold of the ball well and looked dangerous through set piece and their strike runners in midfield. Gordano looked to run and threaten from turn over ball and loose kicks. It was from one such kick that right winger Josh Richards found himself on the ball with a little bit of room to manoeuvre and he duly skipped around one defender before offloading to centre Owen Abbott who was at hand and dotted down under the posts. During probably his strongest 20 minute spell of the season Richards bagged himself the next 2 tries of the game showing great balance and a turn of speed to score both out on the right hand side. Gordano's next try was scored by Mike Yandell at the back of a well guided scrum, the Gordano 8 taking advantage of Kaine Southeys move from scrum half (where he usually beats Yandell in the race to the floor) to hooker. The final score of the half came from Southey who spotted a gap in midfield and tunnelled his way over the line to give the Sharks a 29-0 lead.

With the bonus point secured Gordano were able to unload the bench at half time giving a few players a well earned (in some cases) rest. The first try of the second half was scored by Joe Rowsell who dummied a switch back inside to go over un challenged between the posts. As Imperial continued to tire Gordano scored 3 more tries, Abbott getting his second of the game and back rowers Tim Statton and Lee Worgan adding to their and the teams tally.

The team now sit 10 points clear of Winscombe in second and 17 points clear of Weston and Tor in third with 4 league games to play.
