Sharks seal another 5 points to top the table

The rain cleared and the sun came out for Gordano's second home game of the campaign. The new clubhouse was officially unveiled and Gordano managed to come from behind to secure a comfortable bonus point victory in front a good crowd.

The game started with a succession of penalties awarded to the home side which allowed some easy territory in to the Minehead 22. Rowsal saw an opportunity for a quick tap 5 metres from the line and managed to put second row Tom Arnal in to a gap for the first score of the game. This good start was cancelled out quickly when indiscipline from the Gordano team allowed Minehead to kick for touch and bring their powerful pack into the game. Although Gordano were prepared for the physical threat they were unable to prevent 2 scores from catch and drives, one on either side of the pitch in a 5 minute onslaught from the visitors- both were converted for a 14 -7 lead. Gordano seemed to be off the pace but managed to get a foothold in the game through their continuity, this resulted in skipper Fred Young going in under the posts on minutes to bring the teams level. The Gordano pack started to get in the game as the big Minehead forwards started to tire, Tom Arnal going over from short range for his 4th of the season after a series of attacks on the Minehead line. Back rower Lee Worgan managed to squeeze underneath 2 defenders for a score on half time to give Gordano a 10 point lead at half time.

With the message to pick up the pace and stretch the opposition Gordano scored the try of the season at the start of the second half - the forwards stole the ball before replacement Jack Thomas made good ground providing quick ball out the backs, Rowsal then floated a cross field kick which was gathered on the full by winger Owen Abbott who stepped the winger before offloading to Jack Hendy who fended the cover tackles to score the try. Instead of pushing on Gordano were found guilty of complacency and a series of errors allowed Minehead to control large portions of possession for the next 20 minutes resulting in a try from close range after a number of good attacks to bring the lead back down to 10. It was Gordano that managed to have the last word however good work from the forwards created space on the right wing that replacement left winger Gav Dungan spotted making the run across and diving in for his second try in 2 games.

Final score was 34-19 and despite being enough to put them top of the league Gordano know they will need to play better in the up coming games.
