Gordano travelled to Midsomer Norton on a lovely Sunday to play what turned out to be a very entertaining game for both sets of supporters.
Playing down the slope I the first half gordano started brightly and quickly had the first chance of a score put a missed penalty goal kept the scores level. Norton got into there game after that scare and got 2 trys and a penalty to take a 17-0 lead after 20 mins. Gordano's response was excellent and played some of the best rugby of the season. They should have scored when Toby Arnall dropped the ball over the line uncontested but he made up for it scoring in the corner 5 mins later. Next it was the quick feet of Lewis leaker that dance over after Mike Dyer sucking in 3 defenders. Both conversations were expertly taken by Sam Hodge for a half score of 17-14.
In the second half Norton went back to type with a rolling maul in the bottom corner to extend thier lead but Gordano kept playing with thier attacking intent and where now starting to dominate the scrum and Toby Arnall was the benefactor when Gordano shoved over Norton for the 3rd try.
With a high penalty count for both sides Norton chose to take the 3 points when offered but Gordano looked to attack with ball in hand and they quickly picked up the try bonus and take the lead when Tom Rowland crashed over, conversations again by Hodge 27-28. Unfortunately that would be gordanos last score and the home team kicked 2 pens last on the stroke of the final whistle to take the game 33-28.
It was a fantastic performance by Gordano who take 2 points from the match but Nortons home form was just a bit to much this time out. Next week the 1st take a well earned rest before returning to Caswell Lane to play old Bristolians on the 23rd October.
