Still unbeaten.

Gordano were expecting their toughest test of the season to date when they travelled to Old Reds on Saturday to take on a side that whose results have been impressive during the first month of the season. Gordano started well and certainly looked well up for the challenge and the opportunity to test themselves in a sterner contest. Gordano's new look front row of Kyle Warrington, Matt Seven and Tom Hollis looked solid in the absence of regular loose head and captain Fred Young who is shaking off a slight injury concern. The pack soon began to present some good ball for the young backline to exploit. Indeed both wings, Elliot Handscomb and Jack Thomas had scored before half time.
Gordano were never behind and looked to seize the valuable bonus point for four tries after hooker, Matt Steven scored the side's third try. Unfortunately this was not to be and Gordano had to contend with a well deserved and hard fought win whilst dropping their first bonus point of the season.

Other results went their way on the day and they have now extended their lead at the top of Somerset Premier League to 6 points.

Gordano second team also maintained their lead at the top of their Somerset 2 North league with a comprehensive 38 - 10 win at Bristol Harlequins. The six try haul earned them their 4th successive bonus point win. Tries from Mike Yandell, Josh Richards 2, Phil Hodder, Nino Toto and James Thomas.

Adam Well's 3rd team were also in winning form when the entertained North Bristol and notched up a 58 - nil win.

This was another successful weekend for the Caswell Lane club who remain unbeaten during the first 5 weeks of the season. Played 15, won 14 drawn 1 are pretty impressive statistics. Even more impressive are the manner of some of those wins. The club has scored 615 points in the first month of the season and only conceded 102. The average try count for the three senior teams is just under 6 per match.

Coach Kevin Instance said "some of the players are worried about highlighting these figures for fear that it might jinx us. I am well aware that this winning run will end at some time, but I delighted at the style of play that the players are buying into across all the teams and that they are all scoring hatfuls of tries. I have no idea if this run is a club record, but I doubt the amount of tries scored in such a short space of time has ever been matched here before."

Next week Gordano welcome neighbours Nailsea and Backwell to Caswell Lane whilst the second team are at home to Chew Valley in a top of the table clash. Both games kick off at 3pm.
