1at XV stroll to victory in Bristol.

Gordano made short work of newly promoted Bristol Barbarians to record their second bonus point win of the season and place themselves at the top of Somerset Premier League. Despite scoring eight tries, there was still a sense among the squad that they could have scored even more and given themselves some extra scores that could be vital towards the end of the season.

Gordano again made it look as if they have been operating under the new scrum engagement laws for years as they dominated the opposition in this area of the game. The forward supremacy soon started to rub off on the back line. Centres Owen Abbot and Tim Statton began to run through at will and the score board began to tick over rapidly.

With the 4 try bonus point notched up after 20 minutes and and leading by 36 points to 7 at half time, Gordano looked like they were going to create a cricket score after the break. They then started to give away penalties which kept the opposition in the game for periods and prevented the lively backs getting the ball. The side has prided itself on their discipline and knowledge of the laws, so to give away penalties like this was disappointing.

Gordano came off frustrated having only scored two tries in the second half and know that they need to be more clinical if they are to realise their potential this season. Tries were scored by Owen Abbot 2, Tim Statton, Josh Richards, Louis Leighton, Curtis Dash, Joe Harris and Sean Leadbeater.

Matt Chadwick led the Gordano 2nd team to a great victory away at Oldfield. The Bath side have been runners up for the last 2 seasons in Somerset 2 North, so this was a good test for the Gordano team. Six tries in a 34 - 0 win shows the potential this team has to progress this year also. the back row of Mike Yandal, Tom Arnal and Ben Wilson were particularly influential as was scrum half Kane Southey. There are several in this team that are pushing hard for inclusion in the first team.

Gordano 3rds played out a competitive 22 - 22 draw at St Bernadattes Old Boys. Two weeks into the season and none of the three Gordano senior men's teams have lost!

Next week Gordano face a sterner test when the welcome local rivals Yatton to Caswell Lane. The 2nd team are at Walcot.
