Chew Valley have had an outstanding season and are red hot favorites for promotion from Somerset Premier. They currently sit at the top of the table and were expecting to sweep a young Gordano team aside with ease. Gordano had other ideas and made the early exchanges even and fiercely contested. Both teams swapped penalties and twenty minutes had passed before the big Chew Valley forwards managed to barge over the line.

The Gordano pack started to get on top in the forward battle. The set scrums were going very much in favour of the home side. The whole Gordano team worked tirelessly in defence and frustrated the visitors attacks time and time again. The new back row combination of Lee Worgan, Ben Wilson and Tom Arnall led the way in this department.

The turning point in the game was when Chew Valley were forced to go to uncontested scrums for a period. When they were able to guarantee secure ball at the scrum, their back line began to look more threatening. It was in this period that they scored the decisive try that in the end would see them come out as winners.

Two late score flattered the visitors slightly but they were still worthy winners at 3 - 27.

Gordano had many scoring opportunities and they look like theit exciting back line will relish playing on firm grounds for the remainder of the season.

Next week they travel to Keynsham
