Gordano can count themselves lucky from a poor first half showing that saw them 19-7 down at half time. The game was halted at half time due to an unfortunate injury to referee Nigel Stephenson.
The half was played in a frantic fashion in the opening exchanges as both sides looked to assert their selves physically and out wide.
Gordano, missing several key players, carried hard but struggled to link with their backs to make any real headway through the opposition defensive line. Spartans used their ball carriers to exploit some weak shoulders on the blindside in the Gordano defence to go 5 points up. It was in this phase of play the referee found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time and a strong tackled from Tom Arnall saw him sustain a nasty knee injury, however he was determined to carry on and with some help from the physio made it back onto his feet.
Gordano then hit back almost immediately, a carry and offload from Tom Arnall to Carl Petch saw him dash half the field deep into the opposition 22. This saw Spartans give away a penalty, which when kicked to the corner Gordano drove over the line. Conversion kicked by the returning Noah Holmes-Mcadam.
Spartans then scored another two tries, one from tight and strong carrying and the other from a superbly executed cross-field kick which saw their winger score in the corner. Both conversions slotted saw them lead 19-7, but the referee's injury had been too bad to continue into the second half which saw the game abandoned.
A possible return date of the 2nd November, all being well with pitch availability.
Gordano face a very tough challenge on Saturday when they welcome the league pace setters Stroud, who have a 100% record this year. Kickoff 3pm at Caswell Lane.
