On Friday gordano travelled to local rivals Avonmouth in what was dubbed the battle of the bridge. Gordano started brightly and were straight away causing Avonmouth problems with stu Harris cutting a good light and with Jack last on his shoulder it was an easy finish for the returning winger. Conversion add by homes-McAdam. The game settled down into a bursing affair with both teams going hard at each other with only a penalty a piece to show for it. After 30 minutes the home side leveled the scores with a try but gordano went into half time up with another penalty by homes-McAdam.
Once again gordano started the half the stronger and after only 3 minutes into the half Noah homes-McAdam hit a brilliant line then side step two players to score a brilliant individual try, unfortunately he scored it to far away from the posts for him to add the extras.
With a hour gone Avonmouth closed the gap with a pen but gordano got their 3rd try of the game when Tim Statton broke clear and the flanker ran it in from 40 meters out. Conversion added. The last 10 minutes of the game the home side picked up the pressure on gordano and with second row Chiddle in the bin the scrum was weakened and Avonmouth tried to capitalize with a push over but their 8 seemed to mess it up only for the ref to award a penalty try. With only 2 minutes left the home side levelled the score with another try but they missed the convention to win the game Final score, 25-25.
It was a classic Derby day clash with both teams going hard at each other from the start. Gordano will feel upset to let a good lead slip but Avonmouth would have thought they did enough to get the win at the end so a draw seems a fair result.
It's a week off next week so we can all watch the 6 nations then gordano are back at home against Barton hill. 2.30 ko.
