Missed penalty with last play costs them

Gordano travelled to league leaders Midsomer Norton in great spirit after last week's win over 3rd place Matson but after only 5 minutes it was clear that this challange would be even harder after the home team scored in the corner. Gordano have great belief in their team and were soon ahead from a try from Tom arnall Converted by hodge. Straight from the kick off gordano scored again through Jack Thomas to take a 5-12 lead but norton weren't top of the league for no reason and came back into the game and scored another try to level the scores and to a penalty goal to retake the lead. Just before half time gordano took the lead as Noah homes-McAdam crashed over the line in front of the post, conversion missed...

The second half gordano continued to play some great rugby and were reward with the try bonus point when matt stedman stepped gus way over the line. Once again norton stepped up to the plated and narrowed the gap with a converted try of their own, then on the hour they retook the lead thriugh another forwards dominated try. Jack Thomas snuck over the line for his second of the afternoon to tie the game with 15 minutes left in the game. Both teams went looking for the win and norton took a penalty goal to take the lead then gordano would reply straight away with a try from Royce Chiddle, then with 2 minutes left norton took another penalty goal to take the lead. With only one play reminding gordano kicked off and won the ball back, would this be a repeat of last week? As gordano started to work up feild Norton killed the ball and gave a penalty away 35 meters out. Straight away Sam hodge stepped up to have a shot at goal but unfortunately the wind just pushed it past the post and the game was over. Midsomer Norton win 35-34.

This was a great advert for western countries rugby with both teams playing entertaining rugby, gordano obviously gutted not to take the win but can be very proud of taking 2points from the league leads home ground. It was another great team performance but the glue which held it together was Joe Rowsell who was ferocious in defence and the creative flair in attack.

Next week is a local derby with old bristolians coming to caswell Lane.
