Gordano won a crucial home match on Saturday at home against Cheltenham. Gordano started brightly with scrum half Scott Magrath scoring in first 5 minutes but things got a lot harder after red card was shown to veteran prop Andrew peterson after a mass brawl. Both captain's were both sent to the sin bin for not controlling there players. Once skipper Tom arnall came back on it wasn't long that Gordano would be back down to 13 when hooker blaine southley was sin binned for slapping the ball down. Gordano defended well and worked hard with 2 less men and actual got some good field positions and extended their lead with a penalty kick by Mike Dyer. Half time 8-0
Gordano knew the second half would be hard work but they dug in and when flanker Jack Thomas found some space there was no stopping him collecting a vital try. Cheltenham then had there best period of the game and were denied a try time and time again as the gordano defence just wouldn't give up but after 10 minutes of trying they did finally cross the white wash to come within a score away from gordano. This spurred gordano on and it was Jack Thomas again who got the try that would win the game for gordano. With 2 minutes left gordano went hunting for the bonus point and second row Royce Chiddle powered over under the post to make sure gordano took all 5 points. Gordano with the pressure of scored again straight from the kick off to make the score look a lot more comfortable that it actually was.
With this win it moves gordano up into 10th in the league. Next up is chew Valley away next Saturday, 2.30ko.
