Another Victory Ticked Off

On Saturday gordano welcomed hornets Is to caswell Lane on what was a wet and windy afternoon. With a strong wind coming in from the west the toss would be key to how the game would pan out and again gordano captain Tom arnall lost. Luckily for gordano hornets thought it was more important to kick off so gordano choose to play into the wind first half. Gordano started uncharacteristically slow and let Hornets have the ball in the first 5 mins. Hornets were awarded a penalty in front of the posts and decided to take the easy 3 points. From the restart gordano tried to force their game on the the hornets but were lose with their passing and nearly handed hornets with a couple of gift trys. With the hornets pack starting to tier, gordano started to ramp up the pressure on their opponents and got their rewards with no 8 Tom arnall getting the touch down. With the half coming to a close the evergreen prop Andrew Peterson made a lovely break and drew the last defender to send the slightly slower Jack Thomas though the hole to score a very good team try. Ht 10-3

The second half started slowly with hornets having plenty of ball but were unable to do much with it as the gordano defence were so strong. With this constant pressure, mistakes were creeping in and this was highlighted when a wild pass went straight into the gordano captains hands and he was able to jog in under the post for an easy 7 points.

With the conditions holding up gordano were still trying to play their expansive game but with a strong wind at their back and a weakening opposition forward pack it was no surprise that Gordano were looking to push over the hornets at every opportunity and after driving hornets back 10 meters gordano finally got over the line with Jack Thomas getting his second. Conversation added by Sam hodge. Gordano finished off their workman like performance with a well worked try finished by winger Jordan Mitchell. Final score 31-3 this was a very good result for gordano, a bonus point win is all you could ask for in the wet and windy conditions but they got a good points difference. The mark's Barbers man of the match was hard working youngster Andrew Peterson who worked tirelessly all day.
Next week only the 2s have a game, home to weston super mare, but the following week (10th Feb) Gordano are at home in the national Cup against Barton Hill who are currently top of Gloucestershire Premier.
