Sponsors and past players treated to a win.

Gordano took all 5 points from the North Somerset derby last Saturday with a 15-minute spell that which blew away Nailsea and Backwell. The start of the game looked promising for Gordano as they took and easy 3 points in the first 5 minutes and added a try to that when Noah homes-McAdam was put away nicely in the corner, but Nailsea fought hard and with there larger than normal pack they were nullifying any of Gordano`s attack. Nailsea had a great chance of their own to score as their winger was running in Sam Hodge made a great covering tackle, unfortunately for him his tackle was adjudged to have slipped high and was given a yellow card. With it being a try saving tackle that was deemed to be illegal it was very harsh on Nailsea not to receive a penalty try instead they had to kick to the corner and try to push over Gordano and this wake-up call of the near miss had sparked the Gordano defence into life and Nailsea came away with nothing, half time 8-0.

The Gordano players identified themselves that they needed to raise the tempo in the second half and with the Nailsea pack starting to tier Gordano did just that and had a 15 period where they ran in 4 tries’. The first was with Jack Thomas who powered his way over from close range second was Sam Hodge showing his pace out wide and the last 2 was Tim Statton and jack Thomas again. This was a great period of the game for Gordano but Nailsea did lose a player to the sin bin in this time so when he returned Nailsea were able to stop the rot and got some field position of their own and game away with a well worked score of their own. Final score 35-7. Both sets of coaches won’t be happy with there own team’s performances as this wasn’t a classic to rembember but Gordano showed enough in periods that has done them well this season. The marks barbers man of the match as Stuart Harris who`s support play was outstanding all day.

After the pain of losing last week to Wiveliscombe this victory for Gordano was a boost which got boosted even more when the result from imperial came in with the south Bristol team getting the win that puts Gordano back on top of Somerset Premier. Next up for Gordano is St Bernadette’s away.
