Great result for 1st XV

On Saturday Gordano travelled to Bath to play Avon who were 2 points behind second placed gordano at the beginning of the game with the same record of only losing 1 game so far this season. Gordano started well and stamped there authority on this crunch match and where rewarded with their positive start with a penalty goal by Sam hodge. As the half continued Gordano where playing all the rugny and on the 30 minute mark Sam hodge burst over the line after constant forward pressure from Gordano. Conversion added 10 up and looking good for gordano but Avon haven't lost at home this year and didn't want to change that statistic. Avon got 2 quick trys right at the end of the half as gordano sat back and allowed their opposition to get on the front foot. Ht 12-10 to the home team.

Gordano rallied at half time and came out strong and dominated the first 10 minutes. After countless penalties gordano were awarded a penalty try and Avon had a player sent to the sin bin. This seemed to stoke Avons fire and gordano seemed happy just to sit next to it. During this 10 minute period with 14 men Avon kept the ball tight and drove up the field until they got a score to retake the lead. Gordano now with some fresh legs from the bench came back strong and finished the game on top and it wasn't long until the match winning try came though Philip Hodder after he was put into space with an excellent pass by the gordano hooker.
With 1 minute left in the game gordano took the opportunity to close the game out and took a simple 3points by Sam hodge to end the game 19-25 winners.

This win opens up a gap from gordano in 2nd place and the chasing pack and leaves gordano 3 points of the top spot with a game in hand. The team battled hard for the win but the mark's Barbers man of the match was Sam hodge for not only his points tally but crucial tackles and turn overs in defence.
